HELP!!! Fender Bender!!!

Hey Guys,
so basically today i was driving over a bridge in heavy rain and was waiting to turn left at a traffic light. A woman driver in the center lane decided she wanted to turn left too and cut into my lane without looking. Her front bumber hit my righthand side fender and caused a hude dent into it. Now here's my problem... the hit missed the strakes and lights but did make a huge dent that runs on the top of the fender. There are no scratches or scrapes or anything else other than a dent. Can something like this be easily knocked out and roughly how much would it cost? i dont want to be ripped off by anyone and since im a student at university i dont have time to do it myself or even the know how. Any advice would be gladly appreciated! I love my 8 and to see something as stupid as this happen kills me!

Insurance? I guess they would take care of everything since your not at fault. Usually insurance co. would just tell you where to go and your pretty much out of option.... geico im my case. I'm sure there are other ways I dont know of.

When I got my fender swiped it looked like a mess, I tried convincing the adjuster guy it'll be easier to just replace the fender but they thought it'll be a cheaper fix to not buy a new fender and do a full blown bodywork and make those extra labor hours (just look at those sophisticated curves on our fenders). They did a decent job for a crushed fender but you can still see that its not exactly symmetrical, from the front. their invoice to geico was like $1500+, for refinishing the right wheel, tiny bodywork on the bumper, major one on the fender, one sidemarker, and hours of labor. Thats my experience.

anyways they'll probrably puch the dent out and putty it, easy fix in your case. Make sure they fix it right, inspect the finished fender "very" thourghly and make them redox whatever they missed.

It's her fault, so her insurance company pays and also provides a rental car for you to drive while yours is laid up.

You get to choose the body shop. Check around and find a good one - that's the key to getting the repair done right.

i tell geico where i take my car and they write me a check. if its not correct, i let the bodyshop and geico work it out.

if you go where geico tells you to go they'll do it as cheaply as possible to save geico money. the plus side is that if you are unhappy with the work, you can refuse to accept the car (dont sign off) until the car is to your satisfaction. and you have the weight of geico behind you.

ok thanks guys... but herein there is a problem... firstly i am an international student so my insurance is very very basic because i have only been driving in the USA for a year... i got my insurance 2 days after i got my license so therefore my 'basic' insurance is $3000 a year...so u can count that out! Im supposed to pick up the police report on monday and im not sure after that what the procedure is...this is my 1st accident of any sort with the RX8 or here in the USA... i hate seeing the car with this big *** dent so i just wanna get it done asap... how long does it normally take if its determined that the woman was at fault and her insurance will cover me?

P.S the hit missed the important lines and curves on the 8 so its just a dent on the fender near the wheel well...ill post some pics later

you need to contact your insurance company as they will work with the other person's insurance company. they will want the police report. when the police report shows that it was the other drivers fault, that person's insurance company will pay for your repair costs.
