Help with radiator hoses change...

I bought the RB hoses and will change them this weekend. Try to find a thread with info about this change but couldn't find it. Just want to know any info or details about this job.

If you know a thread with this, KINDLY re-direct me to it. I really looked for a while but a lot about coolant and other stuff but not about this.

Thanks a lot.

About the only thing to be careful of is removing the line from the coolant overflow bottle to the stock rad...the nipple breaks of very easily

Other than that....drain rad through the petcock on the drivers corner of the rad...remove hoses and replace with new hoses. You might have problems with the stock clamps if the RB hoses are significantly thicker....you can buy some nice t bolt clamps or the like to replace them if you have a problem

Did the change this weekend. The most difficult thing and time consumming was taking the undertray and removing and installing the coolant box to avoid damage to nipple in radiator. I used a little bit of WD40 to facilitate installation of new hoses and everything was fine.

I also remove the rubber protecting covers of some of the oem hoses and put them in the same position on the RB hoses. Using WD40 made it farely simple also. This will cover part of the pretty blue color, but will protect them more.

Inspect the small hoses around for damage. One of them I had to wrap with additional protective tape because it was a little bit pintched and damage.

Just have to be patient. Remove batterie and other plugs carefully.

If you use the RB clamp included in the top hose to the radiator, be sure to installed it a way it will not interfere with coolant box. When I tried to put back the box, had to take it out and move the clamp bolt to the left so it would not be in the middle when the box goes in place again. After tightening clamps, with a big screwdriver, carefully, you can pushed back a little the excess clamp so you dont get scratched by it or damage other parts. RB clamps are very good quality, just arrange them in a way that is easy to thigten them.

Flushing: Empty the coolant from the rad and engine. Then, did a "semi" flush using a water hose, with the rad and engine opened to take out as much coolant as I could without starting the engine. Close the rad and engine and did a basic flush with distilled water. Installed everything back. Add my distilled water and Waterwetter. Turned the engine for 15 minutes or so to look for any leaks.

I don't consider myself as a mechanic. My partner is, but he had broken his whrist, so I basically did everything. It's not that complicated but takes time.

Hope this helps others.

You may want to rethink about the water wetter there have been discussions about it eating coolant seals on the rx-7, noone has proof but it is a possibility (I bought some for my FD but after reading that I didn't use it)
