High mileage success tips

You guys who have racked up more than 75-80K miles have done the right stuff.
The question is, (assuming you are on your original engine) in your opinion, what do you owe your high reliability, high mileage success to?
I'm assuming everyone of you will say frequent oil and filter changes but other than that obvious answer do you:
Premix?
Dino vs synthetic?
A specific weight oil?
9K per day?
Baby your ride?
Beat on your ride?
Other tricks?

I would like to point out that it's pretty pathetic that 80K is a standard for reliability....

Apart from that - premix, redline a day, and you'll be just fine.

I wouldn't consider it a standard. I suggested 75-80K only because not many '03-'04s have that much mileage on them yet.

Yeah expo, have been reading your thread for weeks and it's one reason why I wanted to get more input. I wanted to see if the other high mileage guys seemed to maintain there's the same way.
Good goin' and thanks for the history.

I switched to royal purple fully synthetic 5w 30 much smoother idle but my gas mioleage decreases by like 30-40 miles to the tank i would be gettingg 200 miles int he city now i acheive 160.. change the oil every 5K miles Ive dogged my car since i got it lol no engine problems... Only mods i have are cold air light flywheel power pulley and cxat back exhaust.. ohh and im using red line tranny oil..

74K miles on my 04 MT about 50/50 city/highway. I run Castrol dino, changing it myself between 3-4K miles. Started premixing with Idemitsu Premix around 60K. I mostly run regular gas but put in Shell high test once in a while. Chevron techron in one tank every 6 months or so. I rev it up so the third ports kick in couple of times per day on my commute. The rest of the time I just try not to dog it, keep my normal shifts in the 4-5000 rpm range.

Other than that normal maintenance clean the K&N every 12K, new iridium plugs every 35-40K myself, synthetic in the trans. Everything is original otherwise.
