High pitch sound in 6th gear
I tried searching all the thread titles with "6th gear" in it and couldn't find anyone talking about a similar issue. I've notice that in the last couple of months that when I shift into 6th gear I get a high pitch sound like something is rotating very fast (it's similar to the sound that a jet engine makes when it's starting up). I don't hear this sound in any other gear and it's very noticeable difference then when I'm in any other gear. Plus I don't think I remember hearing this sound when I first bought the car in May. It's a 2005 model.
I was just curious if this sound is normal or whether I should bring it in to the dealership to have them take a look at it.

sounds like a rotary...
It ought to sound like a jet engine, for lack of a better description.
How loud? Does it depend on engine speed? Does it vary by engine speed? Temperature?

The car seems to be running fine, but it's my first manual transmission car so it's kind of hard for me to tell sometimes if something is going wrong. As for which rpm range I'll have to double check that, I'm usually between 2.5k to 4k in sixth and I believe I hear throughout the rpm range. I carpool with my friend to work so I only really drive my car every other week and I'm not driving this week but I'll see if I can get more information for you guys.
Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate it.
