holding the DSC
ok i read on a page dont remeber where. but it caught my eye. it said that some one holds there DSC button for about 5 sec. when they start there car? what does this do. i did it and the traction control light came on.. it wont turn off till u turn your car back off... whats this doing?

It's also in your owners manual. 1 push disables DSC, 7-9 seconds ish disables the traction control intervention. 10-8000 seconds (133 minutes.. ish for those of you that calculated it like i did), you might want to look at your gas gauge... :D

Thats your answer. The only thing I can add is that when you do the 7 sec. hold to disable the DSC, it will put an error code into memory in the ecu. It won't throw a CEL. This code will be reset by the dealer next time you go in for service. Or if you have a ODB II scanner, you can clear it your self.

07 Owners Manual - Page 5-26
Same difference to alnielsen's correction. That other thread has some innacuracys, I'm gunna chime in on that other thread.
But in short alnielsen is correct, and the exclusion of page 5-25 can make the conversation mis-leading. It is possible to disable the DSC, then the TCS. Not vica-versa, when you think about it, and the events that occur the other way around it makes sense that it's not allowed.
So yeah, the 7+ second hold trips an error. I wasn't aware it logged in the obd system. I'll have to pull out my scantool.
Below Taken from Page 5-26 in the Owners Manual: although other linked thread has a pretty scan
l If the DSC OFF switch is pressed
and held for a second or more, the
TCS/DSC system may become
inoperative due to the system
detecting switch trouble. If the TCS/
DSC system becomes inoperative,
the TCS/DSC and the DSC OFF
indicator lights illuminate
simultaneously. In this case, turn off
the engine and restart it to restore the
TCS/DSC.
