The hood on the RX-8 is aluminum and I wouldn't advise working on it yourself. The metal is kind of brittle compared to steel and is a bit tricky to work with. Depending on the size of the dent, I would take it to a paintless dent repair place and see if they can work it out.

yea, i was thinking since it is aluminum that it might be hard for me to take out. im gonna bring it by a body shop my dads friend owns and see what they can do. thanks for the help.

I took mine to the body shop when i had some dents in the "scoop" part of the hood, right on the crease. The shop told me they were not repairable short of filling them and hoping it looked good afterwords, i ended up getting a new hood.
on a side note, the old hood is for sale with 3 small dents
