The other day I was exiting the driveway at work quickly and then had to make a quick hard stop as somebody pulled in front of me. The road is higher than the lot so its on an upslope and I was making a right turn. About halfway through my maneuver I heard the distinctive "plink" of the hood latch, and when I got to the next traffic light I realized that the hood had self-released. Has anyone had this happen to them? I hadn't opened the hood for a few days and I'm pretty sure it was well secured. This makes me a bit nervous if body flex is enough to pop the hood. It seems to fit fine otherwise and I haven't hit anything with the car. (6700 miles on '06 GT)

 

Yet another thing to obsess about. Sheeesh!

 

Maybe your foot pulled the hood release lever?

 

Time to stiffen up the front end with sway and shock tower bars

 

It actually happened to me about a year ago. I stopped by the dealer, had the latch adjusted and it hasn't happened since.

 

It's the torque.
