How many miles do you get out of a Full Tank?

My last tank was 186 when the light came on. Great.

I kept up with my gas milage for about the first year or so I had the car. I've stopped since, but I still get the same milage per tank. ~270 miles / tank. I've averaged 19.092 miles per gallon in that time. If you want me to be more percise, I can even take it out a few more decimal places!
Here you go. Yes, by the way, I AM an Engineer....
The two low spots are track days.

260-280 usually mix of highway and city, still on first flash

Those of you who are quoting # of miles per tank...are you basing this on when the low fuel light comes on??
My car is still breaking in but just filled up for the 2nd time today; light came on at 241 mi., gassed up w/in a couple of miles @13.4 gals = 18.1 mpg. based on the published tank size then , there should be at least 30 miles of highway distance to look for a station when the light goes on, sound about right??

My estimate is BEFORE the light comes on... (I've never gotten it that low but DAMN CLOSE a few times)
Gulaman: That is correct! When the light comes on, you should only have about 20-30 miles to get to a gas station.

gas light somewhere around 220 - 250. I usually get gas when I'm around 280-300. Most I've gone is 340... got a 15.9 gal fillup that was cutting it pretty close.
doesn't really matter how I drive it, what matter more so is how much I spent on the highway vs city. ( i'm a 85-90% highway person 30,000+ miles per year)
generally I run 87 octane. Car runs much better has better power and mileage. I've logged it since I bought the car.

I usually fill up just before the light comes on. I've also kept track of all my fill ups (6500 miles worth), I'll post an average when I get home and check my spreadsheet.

ARE You All driving HYBRIDS? OR are you all Liars?
I have a 2004 6mt; In 11,000 miles, I have an average of 13mpg.
I commute Brooklyn to NYC, and get 170 miles AT MOST to a tank - doing 100% city driving. Mileage differs only 5% if I drive hard or easy.
Summertime, with 90% highway driving, the BEST I achived was 18mpg.
Shitty mpg still makes me angry.

Like most here, I average 230 till the light comes on and 240-250 when I fill up with 13.65 gal. of 87. I've logged mine for 20months and is very consistent. I drive mainly a 10mile 1way mix of highway/city.
Highway milage will increase the mpg, but I have also noticed that drivng for long periods of time as opposed to short trips greatly improved the RX-8's milage. If I am on a back road, driving with high revs for a couple of hours, I can also do better than my standard 10mile commute.

Don't know how true this is, but I've been told by service reps, that depending on where you live, during the winter, the fuel you buy at stations might have a different grade (a little more ethanol)..which will degrade the mileage..for summer, this should change..so..for those who are seeing this, it might be the case..inputs? Myth or fact? Anyone??

I am SICK of all of these rules on how to drive for better milage.
I just DRIVE. And this car gets so much WORSE milage than I ever anticipated.
But, I'm living with it, trying not to let this ONE BAD FEATURE of the car **** me off. Because it does **** me off.
The rotary was supposed to be the answer to all of the problems with the reciprocating engine. The rotary is simpler, lighter, and dosent waste kinetic energy pumping pistons up and down. The only thing wrong with a reciprocating engine is that it reciprocates. Other than that basic 'flaw', piston engines are efficient, powerful, and pretty much the standard type vehicle powerplant.
Why hasnet any other company delveloped this engine. Just search all of the problems we have with the damn rotay.
The RX would STILL be a great car with a 2 liter, 4cylinder engine. And it would work in the real world, not just on a track at 9,000 rpm.

I am running between 13.4 to 15.4 liters per 100 km in the winter. Warm up time and traffic are not good for mileage and I look forward to summer gas.
BTW, that is 15.25 to 17.55 US MPG

Well, let's see. I have been keeping a fairly accurate record of my gas mileage for the past year or so with an excel spreadsheet and this is what I get with about 50/50 city and highway miles:
232.8389831 miles per tank on average and
17.82743161 mpg on average
high: 282 miles on a tank and 21.39 mpg
low: 185.2 miles on a tank and 13.79mpg
Hope that helps. There are lots of threads out there on gas mileage from the past, although I would like to see what some of the owners are getting after driving the cars for at least a year or so. My mileage was much worse in the beginning than it is now. Maybe that is because the car has learned my driving style, or maybe I have learned how to more efficiently drive the car.
