i live in nyc (90% city driving) and I burned 1/4 tank and got 39-40 miles out of it... so that'll be 160 miles a tank? I normally shift at 3k rpms and my car is relatively light since i'm the only person in the car most of the time without anything but a baseball bat and a few hardballs in the trunk. =/

I've taken her on a 200 mile road trip not long ago and still had plenty of fuel to spare, average speed of 70+ and occassionally topping a bit over 100 to wake myself up on the boring straights. It's gonna hurt if you live in the city with lots of traffic, retardedly unfair red lights (green you go then it turns red the next block, wtf?) oh yeah did i mention manhattan traffic? Oh yeah and the cold weather does have a dramatic effect I noticed. I used to get close to 180-200 miles out of city driving when it was warmer, but since the thermometer dropped so did the mileage.

I love this car, lots of fun to drive and quite the attention grabber. I'm trying to save up to hopefully raise a family one day and this car is starting to not look too practical to own around the tri-state area. If I had the means I'd get a civic hybrid to beat around on during the weekdays.

get gas out of the city... they use oxygenated gas there and it KILLS your mileage...

Marketing hype does not always agree with physics. There are all different types of powerplants (recips, diesels, [2stroke-4stroke], gas turbines, and rotary). Each have its benefits. Unfortunately, marketing tends to skew reality.

I usually average around 220-250 miles per tank average fill up is 13.5 Gallons.

I posted that I got 320+ to one tank full and of course I was running with the lite on for 50 miles it seemed. I had spare full in a can and had to refill with 15.4 gallons about. Thats a fact, I was running about 62 mph for a while and mostly all highway.

I was reading on the www.tdiclub.com site, thats a good place for the diesels like my new 06 VW golf 1.9 TDI car. On that site, there are threads about using Acetone at 2-3 ounces per tankfull to increase full milage on diesel and gas powered engines. Many claimed it does better at increasing milage on gas motors but you can't overdo it above the 3 ounces per 15 gallons.

Its suppose to be safe and doesn't damage the motor or the fuel system in any way. What are your thoughts on this, what is the chemistry that could allow these results? Increasing the "Cetane" number in diesel fuel surely increases milage but to much can damage the fuel system because it is extremely dry and excess amounts can kill lubrication of the injectors and the pump etc.

Food for thought, what about the Acetone then ???

just did 210 miles then the light came on. 85% city, the rest highway. It has improved a bit as I put more miles on it.

Approximately, which means you have at least 30 miles (on the safe side @10mpg) before you need to fill up!! I roughly get 18mpg, and have noticed that even when I redline it once/day @8.5k rpm, I still get this..weird, huh? Although, I just switched from 87 octane to 92 to "clean" out the carbs by revving it this high..I'll find out if switching back to 87 will give me the same mileage...

This car was engineered to run on 90 and higher. I think you get less power from 87...not sure 87 is good for fuel injection head.
