How not to change differential fluid....
Two 1 quart bottles of Mobil One 75-W90 synthetic; check.
Nice clean garage floor to lay on; check.
Large oil catch pan; check.
Floor jack to raise car; check.
Jack stands; check.
I pulled the car into the garage, blocked the front wheels, set the floor jack under the diff.
1st problem; the drain hole is right over the floor jack.
1st error; No problem, I will just use a piece of paper to direct the oil into the pan.
I remove the drain plug.
Oil is now all over the floor.
Kitty litter to the rescue.
The rear diff is not empty because the car is not level.
Lower the car, let the rest of the oil pour on the formerly clean floor.
Did I mention the floor stinks now, kitty litter is 2 to 3 inches deep.
OK, I raise the car, and put in the bottom plug.
Remove the top plug to add new oil.
Get clean plastic tubing, route it out the side of the car over the wheel.
Tubing goes in the top hole.
OK, ready to pour oil into the tube.
Cut the nipple on the top of the oil, connect tube, invert bottle.
Nothing happens.
Stop, turn bottle back upright.
Remove seal from under cap with nipple.
OK, ready to pour oil into the tube.
2nd Error; 75-90 synthetic is very slippery.
Tube comes off nipple, oil pours just fine.
More kitty litter; wash feet, change clothes.
OK, ready to pour oil into the tube.
Oil flows into the tube, and down into the differential; woot!
Second bottle going in, where is this much oil going?
2nd bottle finished, differential only is supposed to hold 1.3 quarts.
Car is not level, lower car.
Oil is now at the "correct" level, extra oil is now on the floor.
More kitty litter.
Raise car, put in top plug; done!
Lower car.
Throw away gear oil soaked clothes.
Shower off the coating of gear oil on my back.
Clean garage floor; it doesn't come clean.
Give up on getting the floor clean, go drive.
1st thing I do right today;
Decide I am not going to do the manual transmission oil right now....

err ok ?
let me guess, is this the first time u drain something like that ?
I can tell u now, for Transmission oil change. make sure u level ur car first, drain it, close the drain plug, open the fill plug, THEN, to make life easier, remove the shifter from the top, pour oil from there until oil comes out from the fill plug. then go down, close the fill plug, put the shifter back, u're done.
