How often should the clutch be changed?
#26
It depends upon how often you use it.
If your a freeway driver, you will get alot on miles.
And 99,872 miles sounds correct to me.......

Any number of miles depending on driver and the clutch itself. My wife and I both drive manual transmissions as do all of the kids. 218K on a Camry never replaced clutch before getting rid of it, 109K on the 8 original clutch. Have a friend that just turned over 400K on a 93 Accord with original clutch...amazing.
Bottom line though, seems that the dealer advised replacing Bejackso's clutch when doing some warrantied transmission work. Not a terrible thing as you are dropping the trans anyway. I would hope that you would have gotten more mileage since it wasn't slipping (you will know when you need to replace) but then again replacement when the trans work was done should keep you going as long as you own it if you are decent with a clutch.

The OP didn't have the foresight to find a rotary specialist in the LA area to tow it to and towed it to the dealer and didn't want to expend energy/cost to take it elsewhere b/c the OP really needed the car back. I think the OP knows better next time.
To the person who got the stock clutch put in for $650 that's a good overall price only b/c the labor was included.
