How to strengthen the engine?

I was curious as to how you would go about rebuilding your engine if you had a turbo and wanted to raise your boost. Like I know in other cars you would need to replace the pistons and rods etc. but what would you need to go about doing on a rotary?

Are you talking about lowering the compression to raise the boost? That would involve different rotors, but I'm not sure if anybody has created low compression rotors for the 8.

there really isn't a way to strengthen the engine, other than a really good ECU tune.

Upgraded MOP, lightened rotors and light flywheel.

All from Racing Beat.

you could use 3mm apex seals instead of the stock 2mm but the new seals are suposed to be stonger than the older seals. This also requires some one to re mill the rotor to accept the new seals and if you consider the price of the milling work and having to take apart the engine it is really not worth it.

bigger fuel injectors, raise boost, proper exhasut, AWSOME tune, light flywheel.

does that sound in your price range?

the tune is the most important, that will determine if its a "safe" car or if it will blow up on you.

boost controller is important because I dont think youll want to be driving at a high psi if this is your daily driver.

There is not much you can do to the engine. Well there is something that you can do but its going to be a really pain in the *** process and lots of $$$

The engine can handle your whp numbers with PROPER stuff. Mazsport Turbo is your Answer.

Looking around about 11K for the whole project and lots of time. (a month, maybe)

+1 Totally agree!

That combined though might set you back about $8k to 9k for the turbo system and about $4k + for the rebuild. So around $12 to 15K for everything I think. That would be one nasty rotary though!
