I hate air pumps

I've lost two of them since February. I took a gamble and bought a used one on the second try and it didn't work out (just got the lovely CEL this morning along with a nice vacuum cleaner from hell noise coming from my engine bay). Piece of **** things.

I'd just ignore the thing but I still have a cat so I'd rather have a working unit. Looks like I'm buying a new one this time around. Bleh.

Sucks, they are expensive too and they are not covered under the emissions warranty. I don't have a cat so I just installed the Racing beat block off plate and that was that.

try, www.partsgroup.com and http://www.revvinsevens.com/

I can't imagine my Supercat would enjoy not having that air pump.

The used one I bought was from www.revvinsevens.com. It failed within 48 hours of installing it.

That reminds me, I need to ask them why their part they advertised as working isn't working anymore. Thanks! lol

hmm weird my pump works just fine no CEL/issue whatsoever. 58K miles.

Have you ever try Mazmart? Seriously for used parts Mazmart is the only place that I would trust.

and unlike the "older" CAT, our CAT don't need airpump to function properly. the air pump is just there to speed the warm up process.

Yeah, I'm cursed when it comes to these cars. lol

I've ordered coils and a starter through Mazmart so I'm very familiar with them. In this case the place I ordered the last one from (revvinsevens) is going to ship me another one and refund my shipping on the current one because it doesn't work. That's some awesome customer service!

The air pump is only used at start ups.

A broken one will not harm the CAT.

Tou need a Dog for that.

That's good they are great, I have bought from them before. My air pump lasted almost 100,000 miles and when it failed, I flipped it upside down and the dirt just poured out if it. Texas is rather dusty

ROFL. Got my second one last night, hooked it up, and it's making the lovely whine a failing one does as well. This has got to be a joke at this point.

I'll just deal with the check engine light (when it re-appears). I'm used to it being there now anyways.

Yeah I know I don't.

It's all mounted up. Sounds like complete **** though because it's leaking badly. A new gasket from Mazda should be arriving for me today so tomorrow morning I'm taking it to an exhaust shop and having them fix it. Everything is bolted up correctly and every hangar is connected correctly. It all worked in perfect harmony before the Supercat was installed. Hopefully the gasket alone fixes it, but considering how badly angled the pipes are at the point where they meet up I have a feeling they're going to have to modify the Borla a little bit as well.

It's been a bad two months for my car. A clutch pedal, 3 air pumps, and a cat were all killed. lol

Racing Beat Air pump block off plate and Cobb AP

I was lazy and did mine at the air pump pipe but if you want, you can remove the whole pipe and do it at the header.
