I want to dump my water pump.
I see all types of cooling mods, under drive pulleys, Mazmart replacement water pumps.
I want to throw away my water pump.
Yes, I want a plate to replace my pump, and use a remote electric pump.

You don't need the water pump to operate the alternator. Since the belt adjustment is on the alternator all you need is a new belt with the appropriate circumference/length.
I was wondering what the appropriate sizing/flow rate might be relative to radiator capacity/fluid dwell time?

We will see.......It pumps a lot of water...... Still testing the temp stuff though so no comments yet
BTW...so I don't forget later..the belt length would be a 300 series...or 30" belt
Anyone know where to get a 5 rib 30" belt I have a 4 rib Gates belt on now...but they don't make a 300 belt in the 5 rib style...
It has much more wrap without the water pump pulley...so I don't think there will be a problem with it slipping

lol
But how about the other way around?
I wasn't talking about the belt.
I was talking about the 8 amps it pulls from an alternator that already gets up to 280°F from the load it is under in normal operation.
What makes you think there is a high RPM cavitation issue? Data?
Do you know how many GPM the OE pump flows across the RPM band?

It's not a cavitation issue per se, there are a number of reasons for doing it
try reading the other responses too, somebody has to start somewhere and more than one person already is
don't you have customer's asking silly questions to attend to instead?

What edit? Read what I posted more carefully.
I wasn't talking about disconnecting the alternator, I was talking about the fact that it is already overtaxed.
I guess my post wasn't dripping with enough sarcasm.
No. I have enough time to deal with all the silly questions - even this one.

columbus day.. the day we celebrate a man who found a country..... that was already inhabited... and he didnt find it, he found some tiny islands off it's coast... well, he stubled across them and decided that since he had some flags from spain with him that he could claim them.

go man---i talked about this over 2 yrs ago and i called Merize(spelling) and others about it.
The concept seems taylored made for us. Just think of the increased cooling at low rpm's and stop and go traffic. Since the ewp can provide CONSTANT speed of circulation (a 2 speed pump can be done) ---it just makes sense. Besides stopping a 5-7 hp parasitic drain aint bad.
You can also program a ewp to continue to run after you switch the car off for a set amount of time.
Remember years ago we never though we would have electric power steering either!
Now I was never able to get a firm figue of the flow rate that was needed for our cars. I did logically think that if they could cool a high hp v/8 then it should be ok for us. But???
And on a side note --if you ever need to pump you basement out---taadaa!
Like to be in on this with ya.

Dan remount the alternator down where the a/c used to be---you dont need that anyway do ya?
I have been thinking about that but I have other stuff going on---my poly motormounts are working pretty good now.
True what MM said --the dang thing gets HOT--i have melted the edge off the belt before.
I think our 5 rib gaterback belt is 31inches long?
What temps things are you seeing?
