An idea to the fix cel for not having a cat
My idea is to have a little pipe maybe 1" in diameter and 3~4" long. Then, stuff some of the cat materials into that pipe. Weld that pipe onto the o2 bung, then weld a nut at the other end to put the o2 sensor in there.
So, i just made a "mini" cat just for the o2 sensor. Would that work?? or am i on crack?

Would work. Instead of a nut, you would need to get the gas flowing thru it to read the changing gas composition.
I considered it myself, downsides would be - having to cut into the steel of the cat, it's quite thick and isn't ordinary muffler tubing there, and keeping it quiet, it would sound like a good-sized exhaust leak (which it is!).
You're not on crack, it's good thinking.
I just decided to reset the light every couple of days.......

Mine never gets a CEL (unless I do something stupid, like leave the MAF disconnected).
I don't know if a dedicated mini-CAT will work, but a cheaper way to do it would be to build a voltage "follower" for the rear O2 sensor that simply returns a more-lean signal from the sensor that follows the actual voltage swings.
The EMU can do this with the analog voltage map.

I'm not sure what this statement means (or accomplishes, other than to indicate that TeamRX8 is incapable of contributing without compensating for his feelings of inadequacy), but a hi-flow CAT may not stop the CEL (none of the hi-flow CAT installations I've seen stopped the CEL at all, though it occasionally allowed for a few more drive cycles), it does NOT offer the same reduction of flow restriction that having no CAT does (especially important on an FI car), it does not significantly reduce emissions on a rotary vehicle and I have yet to see one survive more than a year of severe duty.

Well, there are two methods of posting on this forum as I see it;
Method #1 (The TeamRX8 method):
Q - "I have problem §. Can you help?"
A - "I know how to fix your problem, but I'm not gonna tell you how to do it."
Q - "Why not?"
A - "Because you are an idiot and I'm special."
Method #2 (The MazdaManiac method):
Q - "I have problem §. Can you help?"
A - "You fix it by using technique XYZ. Here, follow my step by step directions."
Q - "I don't understand."
A - "Because you are an idiot and I'm special."

i know this is off topic by gettin back on topic... but the odd thing is is a friend of mine asked me why i did not do this exact thing to fool the cat. he told me that its what people always did on the hondas back in the day .... now i know the 8 is far from an old school civic but kinda odd how i hear his theory and then read it on the boards.

If MM were to create an "O2" fooler I would purchase it. I would like to run catless but the only option I can see at this point is using Cobb tuning to remove the post cat O2 code. Thoughts? BTW, my car is an 05
