Ignition Coils

Has anyone had all 4 ignition coils go bad? I think it was just one first, then the rest went in a couple of days. I have almost 74k miles on my RX8.

If you have over 74k miles on the same coils i would buy new ones.

coils don't die out like a light bulb. There are various degrees of functionality, and from what I've seen, it gets progressively worse.

70k is overdue for a change though.

if you have gone that long without new coils, you should feel quite a difference with the new ones

I hear what your saying but you will get 11rwhp for only $600.

That is more hp than we get with intake or catback and that would cost $1k+ and nobody ever complains about spending money on those mods.

You're getting an upgraded ignition system for that price - which includes a set of new coils to boot.

This means a better spark. The gains aren't mind blowing for NA use, though I hear it's noticeable. When you're FI though, this is the only way you'll get over 330 whp. That's an impressive statement and this is a huge breakthrough for the RX-8 community.

True that, but I think for N/A is kinda overkill dont ya think ?

I will go turbo one day, but b4 that day comes ... is just hard for me to get it. I aint saying is bad. I think this Mazsport upgrade probably one of the best thing for the rx-8 community. but to me its not a "must buy" item right now

It really depends on how you look at it. For NA use, almost nothing increases power by more than a few hp. So $600 for a better ignition system that increases power is a much better buy than a catback exhaust that usually gives nothing more than increased sound.

It's also a better mod than something like a CAI that would have to be uninstalled and sold off when you finally go FI.
