ignition help please!
I got a 04 rx8 yesterday. I was told it needed an engine. The car came with a partialy disassembled engine. I got the engine back together and it is ready to test to see if the engine is actually bad. This was a repo so the seller had no idea about the vehicle's history. The problem is i only got one key with the car and that key is a steel key with no chip. I turn the ignition and the anti-theft light blinks at me. Mazda dealership said i have to bring a functional car to them to get new keys programmed. Thats ok, but i don't have a functional car without a key. Do not post on the public forum the "how to steal rx8's" but PLEASE PM me how i can start the car without the transponder key so i can test this car...PLEASE!

ok i got a guy to come out and make me some keys. now i can turn the engine over, but it doesn't start. I haven't gotten very deep into it yet. so far....the gas gauge was on E so i put in new gas, i still couldn't really smell gas in the exaust. So i sprayed starting fluid in the intake and it wouldn't fire, so must be spark right. So i checked for spark on 2 plug wires so far and both have spark.....so i sprayed more starting fluid in the intake and still no ignition....wierd.

ok, i looked into it more, now i know my compression gauge is worthless. I pulled the bottom spark plug out one at a time. What i hear durring cranking is a psss....pssss....pause.....pssss.....psssss.....pa use. Both rotors do the same thing. I believe that is the side seal right? If so, rebuild or replace. Ive rebuilt 100's of piston engines and turbos, so the mechanical concept is there.
Advice please

Your options:
1.new BCM code and key+fob set from here http://www.autotronicsuk.com/immobil...ey-p-1271.html
2.go to a dealer and have new ones made. They give you new keys&fobs and program them based on a code they get from mazda over the phone with the BCM serial.

I take it it's just turning over, no combustion at all? Not even making an attempt to start?
First, check to make sure it's not got any MIL codes. Check that with a code reader.
Check to make sure the fuel pump relay is working, that it's turning the fuel pump on.
Check to make sure the fuel pump is in fact coming on, without a doubt.
From there, check to make sure your injectors are actually firing.
Oh, and a compression gauge is useless on rotaries. You need a custom one to check the compression on all three sides of the rotor.
The biggest thing, is to see if the computer's got any codes, such as anything that would relate to it not knowing when to fire the injectors. Such as, if the PCM isn't seeing RPM, it's not going to fire.
You did check to make sure the wires are routed correct, right?
