Exclamation Im Getting Traction Control Turning On Out Of No Where

For some reasen after i drive my car semi hard, or sometimes when i just take it past 4 it will cut off the power to the rear wheels and my acceleration doesnt work. The car starts to slow down due to the acceleration being cut off. while its doing this the traction control light will turn on(the same one that turns on when your taking a turn to fast and it stops the wheels from spinning out). the only way for me to get around this and kep driving is by turning the dsc off(thats traction control right?). If i dont turn it i can down shift and it will give me power again, but then it will light up me gauges with all kinds of differnt lights. The traction controll light turns on the brake light turns on, and i think the dsc too. My only mod is borla catback exhaust.

if you know what i need to do to fix this plz tell me. Thanks everyone

Checking to see if there are any codes stored would be a good start. It almost sounds like a sensor problem to me, possibly one wheel is reading incorrectly.

You said: "i forgot to mension that the abs light turns on"

The ABS system provides input to the traction control. The ABS sensors tell the computer what the wheels are doing and the traction control (or ABS) makes adjustments if necessary. Something's wrong with your ABS sensors or the ABS electronics and that's affecting the response from the traction control system.

The extended warranty covers the "drivetrain". Depending on how generous Mazda is with their intrepretation, the ABS/Traction Control might not be covered past 40,000 miles.
