Long story short: If you bought from a dealer you probably have the latest flash updates. If not then go to a good dealer and have them do the tank recall. Use the search feature for details.

Congratulations !!:D
Bought my RX-8 only a few months ago.
I've had about 800 exhilarating miles with no problems whatsoever.
The dealership spent a lot of time emphasising engine issues such as flooding and the importance of following the stopping procedure (getting the engine to operating temp) which left me a bit ..
Generally speaking, I always generate a fair bit of heat in the engine (!), but of course I do stop the '8' cold in its tracks temporarily when reversing it out of the garage - but I don't go through the hassle of revving the engine for that (there's plenty of revving once I hit the motorway.....:D).
Is there any link between failure to purge the chambers (as above) and a risk of flooding?
Like our new friend, I'd hate to be causing damage to something so beautiful.....
Any advice from our more technically-gifted members?
