Just had a major problem
#26
ok that spells out my problem to a T, mine started as a cutoff at 6K+ RPM, but only at WOT, it was recorded as misfire on rotor #2. It then began to happen lower and lower, and was eventualy at 3K RPM, it would also stall out, I took it in for the problem.
I told them the car starts, drives and cruises totaly normal, but when you go WOT, it cuts out at various RPM and wont rev past 7K. I can get the RPM up no problem with light throtle, but again any time in WOT the car stumbles and wont rev.
They had it in service for about 5 hrs and said they checked the plugs, made sure I had the current flash and it was fine, they took it for a test drive before and after and couldnt find what I was talking about. I picked it up and within 3 miles the problem was back, and this time the CEL came on and stayed on, solid. So i turned around and droped it off, it was the end of the day, so I had to leave it to be worked on the next day.
I called back the following work day to talk to the tech working on my car, I tried to clue him in to check coil packs, wires and plugs, and also look at the cat, for discoloration or other damage....he said he has and everything looks fine, its still throwing a code for misfire, but they cant find whats going on.
He also said they cant replace any parts on the car unless the service manager OK's it, that includes plugs, cause I tried to tell him that I wanted new plugs with all this misfire going on, those plugs are gonna be covered in crap....
So I called the service manager and he told me that when a car comes in for the same problem 2 times they have to call the mazda corp tech line and talk to them about it. That has to wait untill tommorow (mon).
They kept asking me if I had done any mods on the car, over and over...im totaly stock so no.
Right now the car is throwing misfire in rotor 2 but everything checks out ok. I was thinking bad gas too at one point but I always run Chevron or Shell 93*, so I filled up at a mobil station in town with 93* and the problem still continued.
I want them to change out my plugs and do a compression check, regardless of what they find. Is that out of the question? Or should they be ok with that. oh and I dont want to pay for it cause it should all be warrenty, ive got 106xx Miles.
I was thinking the cat/coils are fried, I have done lots of high RPM driving, keeping the revs over 6k on back twisty roads, as well as WOT high-speed runs, toping out the car, sometimes I work up thru the gears, other times Im just cruising in 5th at 70 and go WOT and then cruise at 150mph, so Im thinking maby the coils/cat are going thru heat damage.
