I have an 04 GT that came used with 2 keys with standard remote door lock/trunk setup. They are made by Premier so im assuming they are not oem. First off the panic button does nothing when pressed. Is this because of programming or will only OEM work?

Also I keep seeing switch blade keys and smart key cards around. Can I use either of these with my 04?
Im willing to put in some used parts from a newer model for the smart key but not sure exactly what it does. All I want is to unlock the doors/ open the trunk with proximity I dont want push to start. Can this be doneby just buying and installing the transmitter in the car?

 

Well I'm using a Mazda 6 switchblade key fob with a 2006 key blank programmed it myself .

 

I read that 06 was the first year that mazda actually offered a switch key so im not sure if it will work with an 04 since there is no switch key blank for 04

 

the switchblade keys work fine with an 04. Just make sure you get the right one. ebay is flooded with mitsubishi ones that WILL NOT WORK on US cars.
