Knotty problem: door key lock broken, battery flat...
Hi there, I'm as green a newby as green can be so please forgive me if I've posted this incorrectly in some way.
I've managed to leave my 8 (230HP UK spec 2003) locked for a while and the battery has gone flat. Tragically I've found that the ignition key won't fit into the door lock for me (it seems to have had an attempted theft) to mechanically open the driver's door and there doesn't seem to be a door lock on the passenger side. Any advice from the wisdom and experience out there on the best way to gain entry to the car or to charge the battery remotely to enable the the remote locking to work? As you can imagine I really would appreciate any help!
Many thanks

Sounds like you need a locksmith. One who knows how to open a car with a slim jim or prying the door jamb a little and getting a tool through the gap. (Non-damaging version of the old coathanger trick.)
You can probably find videos on youtube showing how this kind of thing is done, along with bogus techniques using tennis ***** and stuff, but there's a time to just hire a professional.

Ken, many thanks for the quick reply and the advice.
I think a locksmith probably will be the answer, but I had a thought - would the boot (trunk) light provide a low current way of trickle charging the battery in reverse as I can get into the trunk? Presumably the trickle current would have to be at a rate low enough to not blow the fuse that the light is on?
Thanks again.

open it thru the old fashion way
get a long metal wire, or just a metal wire hanger and make it into a long line with a little hook, get a pry bar warp the tip with tape so u won't chip ur paint, pry the door a bit so so that u can slip the metal wire in to unlock ur door.
its not hard took me 10 mins, cuz one time i left my key on the seat and the door auto locks
u can try the trunk light trick, but if the attempted theft broke the lock, chances are it might not unlock like thatg
