What do you mean "appear"? are they actually wet? And, is it just the carpet? What about underneath?

I have the same problem in an SUV I own. It only happens in the Summer so I've determined the AC condensate drain is clogged. I've personally never had an issue like this in my 8.

You might want to get some fasteners. No matter how careful you are, these things can break.

Don't know about the trunk trim.

Water coming inside the trunk near the taillights.

Likewise, I just discovered a leak in my trunk directly behind the right rear taillight. It's been raining hard this whole week in California, much heavier than last year. I think, it's more about the gutter on the sides above our trunk than the (rubber)
weather seal. I'll open up the panels and hope to find where the leak is coming in.
