Lets look at expo1's over 100K renesis motor

The front seal in question doesn't look too bad at all. It doesn't show signs of being the culprit. It has no tears and is not mis-shaped and fits well also. We won't re-use it but it does not appear to be at fault.

My engine has the same junk buildup on it on the front when I autox and HPDE it.
I think it was the water pump leaking on mine, when I replaced it with the Mazmart pump the black gooey junk like that went away.

Let me make sure I understand this.
Premix and heavier-weight oil wasn't even started on this engine until around 70,000 miles?
The real story is that it lasted to 70K without any special lubrication steps taken.
The premix and heavier oil MIGHT have contributed to a life beyond 70K, but if it lasted that long in the first place, who's to say it wouldn't have made it without it?
Clearly, everything worked just right on this engine. The OMP worked flawlessly, perhaps delivering a tad more than it was supposed to.
I'd be thrilled just to get to 70K on my engine with no major issues. Since I started premixing at 4K, maybe I can better that mark.
Still a noteworthy achievement, expo.

I stuck with 5-20 in the winter and 5-30 in the summer. I can tell you this. If you use 5-30 in the winter you can feel it on your engine. Guess it would be ok for the track. But I use my 8 as a daily driver.
Why did the seal fail? due to age? heat? not lubed up? lol

I did have a dealer look at it to see what they said ( see attached .PDF). More ammo to the never trust a dealer opinion. I still am happy with the end result , a Mazmart engine with another 100,000 plus miles to go. Now lets see what the insides look like.

They recommend getting a new intake manifold because of the mileage and since the motor was going to be out anyway. That 'old' intake is on the Mazmart engine and doing ok.
