Long cranking time after deflooding
I deflooded my 04 manual a few days ago and ever since I did that my car takes a good 4-5 seconds to start where it used to start right up in the past. At first it cranks and sounds weak like it won't start but after a few seconds it'll start up and then drives fine. Any ideas on what might be causing this??? thanks.

I followed the instructions I found on this forum where you pull the fuel pump fuse. I have the upgraded starter and the battery is less than 2 years old. I did not have to charge the battery to get the car to deflood. I also did not replace the plugs. Car has approx. 59k miles.

Coils also tend to weaken over time.
In general the RX-8 will benefit from new coils, plugs and wires at around 50K miles
Any issues before the flood?
How did the flood happen.

The plugs were replaced with the starter but that was at around 10k miles I think. Didn't have any issues before the flood with the car starting. I came home from work, parked and left the car for about 15 minutes. Came out and moved parking spots, car was flooded the next morning.

I flooded mine last fall because of a weak battery (parked for 6 weeks) and the deflood this spring was somewhat complicated...
When you de-flooded did you pull the plugs to clear the chambers?
Were the plugs and starter replaced for hard starting?
Have you considered a seafoam treatment? (search for procedure)

The plugs and starter were replaced at the same time from the dealership but that was about 40k miles ago. I did not pull the plugs after the deflooding process. you think that might be what is causing the starting issue?
When i first try to start the car it cranks but doesn't fire, its not until after 3-4 seconds it fires up and starts....
