Looking for rotary books

I'm looking for books regarding rotary tuning. Anyone have any recommendations of what and where to buy? I'd like to learn how port timing works among many other things. I've learned quite a bit over the years about piston engines, but the rotary is still very much a mystery to me. Thanks in advance.

There's not a lot of books that are super specific to the rotary engine itself. There are quite a few great RX-7 history books - Brian Long's book is FIRST RATE, and a new edition just came out.

Paul Yaw's site has some in-depth tech info that's mighty good - http://www.yawpower.com. http://www.rotaryengineillustrated.com also has some great working models to scope out.

There is a book called "Mazda RX-7 Performance Handbook" - avoid that one. Filled with tons of errors and fluff. I actually have one of the preorder copies signed by the author, and it's a pretty embarrassing book.

There was an old book from the '70s or early 80s I think that had a TON of rotary tech info - I think it was written by one of Mazda's main rotary engineers. A roommate of mine had it - it's long out of print and hard to find. VERY technical book, though.
