Loosing power at high rpms

Hi Guys,

I'll try to do my best to explain my problem and sorry for my average English since this is not my first language. I searched and found similar problems but still want your opinion. My 8 is an 07 with 9 000 km on it and recently I noticed something and the problem seems to grow by time. I first noticed irregular accelerations , by that I mean the car was still accelerating but not smoothly, specially in 2nd gear. 2 days ago it was very very rainy and the car was struggling a bit more.. and a bit later when I was trying to accelerate ( gas pedal on the floor ) the car was accelerating just a little bit ( gained like 3 kmh in 10 seconds , was in 5th gear at something like 115 kph which is around 65mph ) Right after this I tried a test so i shifted in 6th and tried to accelerate to reach a faster speed , the car was stuck at 139kmh.. very weird. Like I said it was very rainy that day so since I have the car since 3 months and never drove it under heavy rain I tought that maybe the air filter ( I have a MS CAI ) was wet and was the reason why the engine was struggling ( well it made sence in my mind lol ) So Today the rain is gone and I noticed a lost of power at higher rpms ( higher than 4000 ) when I accelerate the car NORMALLY accelerate but right after 4k the engine gradually run louder ( CAI i guess ) BUT even the RPM seems to go up very slowly , same for the speed.. So its like the engine SOUNDS like running at higher rpm but is not .. and not generating hps.. so heres my little story and why i need some advices ..

heres a few questions and facts because even if i start a new thread I search and found similar problems , not exaclty like mine tho.

1-Can it by my wet CAI?
2-If not what may be the problem Cat?
3-Is it on warrenty?

about my car :

-Like I said I have the MS CAI
-The car is only 9 000 km ( less than 6 000 miles )
-I use Premix
-Already Cheked oil , it was fine
-Maybe its me but the engine seems to scream louder than it was specially after 4k rpm
-Car was flooded once .. by the dealership they replaced the plugs if im correct.
-The Idle is perfectly smooth
-I dont have a CEL I had one one and it was gone the day after

thanks in advance for your help

Wet CAI - very likely culprit

Cat - with such low mileage, I doubt it's the Cat but since you know for a fact the dealer had flooded the car, it would be worth checking.

A 2007 with such low mileage should definitely be under warranty. Take it in and get it diagnosed. Be careful how you present the issues to them. Typically problems occurring at those speeds (140 km/hr) are not taken seriously by dealerships with the excuse that they can't be replicated. Think your presentation through before you take it in.

And please keep us updated.

Sounds too early for plugs, cables and coils so clean your MAF sensor maybe that would help, clogged cat maybe

Bad Cat. Lock it up. Put it on the board. For sure.

My first cat went about 15k miles: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...&highlight=cat

Second Cat went about 25k miles: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=dealer

ok problem solved

Went to my local dealership and they said I was the CAT , they sais the car was probably flooded once and it may caused the problem ( Maybe the previous owner because I only have the car since a few months .. and who knows maybe the dealer where I bought the car .. ) Anyway the replaced the CAT since its still un warranty

Thanks for all your help
