When its really hot outside 92-100 my car has very low power... Anybody experience anything like this?

There have been a few who have posted similar problems. In fact there was one pretty lengthy thread on the subject. I don't remember the specifics, but the info is out there and the problem isn't unique. I guess thats good news then. Just do a search and it should pop right up near the top.

Well, for starters, hot air is less dense than cold air, so your engine is going to have more trouble breathing than it would otherwise.

but if your car *seriously* degrade (in terms of performance) when its hot. then you might have a problem.

Search, you will find ALOT of information about it

i know a few people that have problems with heat in there rx's, i dont thank god, but they all went to the dealer and have all recieved the same answer, nothings wrong. . .

I think that b/c the rx8 runs very hot already, throw in 100 degree days, and i guess the car would run a bit sluggish.
i do not have any first hand knowledge but i have heard of the Cryo system for the car, where it uses liquid co2 and it gets run threw a metal ball in your air inake, and it cools down the incoming air
also it can be shot on the fuel line to cool the fuel going to the engine.

its sounds like a turbonator, but superstreet, and import tuner say it can get some good results.

Yeah, it should.

Anything that stabilizes the car's temperature is a plus.

I would say to get a dyno test to check to see if your plugs and coils are operating effectively.

Get the recall work done? Did they check your engine? The people with problems in hot temps often had problem engines.

are you an auto or manual?? plus what year is your car?? Reports have been made with heat problems with the 04 auto's (especially in your area)

need to tell us more--lack of power all across the band, certain rpm--good power until engine gets hot, auto vs 6 speed motel, mods to car etc--fixes can range from needing engine replacement to clogged cat to burnt coils to anything?

it just has low power period!... its all across the board 500rpm to redline... if i let it idle when its really hot it will sometimes die... and the only mod I have is the Revi intake and I was hoping it would have fixed my problem...

Just go to another Mazda Dealership.. Or if you have the stock intake put that on before u go to another dealership.. Regardless, intakes don't void warantees..

Bring up the Moss-magnuson act and tell them to prove how your intake caused the problem.

I drive my car in the summer in 115+ degrees in Phoenix. I can tell it is slightly slower than in the colder months, but not enough to upset me. I would say check your plugs and coils/plug wires, and take it to the dealer for a possible recall.

take your revi off put it to stock and bring the car back

i had my coils replaced and cat conveter and it ended up needing a new engine

Federal law. they have to perform the recall.

If you think your car has Civic like power when it's hot you should see how much power my Civic makes when it's hot!

There are too many dealers that are just quite simply lazy and ignorant. There are FAR more of them than there are actually knowlegable ones which is why the ONLY reason to EVER go to a dealership (aside from buying the car) is for warranty work. The unfortunate side is that they almost always find an excuse not to do any work which makes them completely worthless. I'd be blunt and ask them to PROVE your intake is causing the problem. Legally they have to in order to deny a warranty claim. Make this point known and if you can find that in writing (someone here knows where it is), take it to them. They have to work on it.

I can tell you that they'll probably remove the intake and your problem will go away as they'll reset the ecu at the same time. They'll say that the intake was in fact the cause and they just proved it even though it was a reflash or reset that took care of it. Go home an install the intake again. It'll be fine. The intake is not causing any issues. It never has and never will. Something very similar happened to Brillo. Service techs are complete idiots. Tell them RG said so! I'd love to see a public rebuttal from one sometime!
