Low oil pressure

hi guys ....i recently noticed on my oil pressure gauge that my oil pressure is low....normally , as i go higher , would hit higher pressure ...but now , it peaks out at 75-79 psi.....what is wrong with it ? the only thing was i had an oil change and now , the pressure wont go up higher than 80 !

does anyone have/had the same symptoms ? clog ? i simply have no idea ...plz help ~

The RX8 oil pressure regulator tops out at approx 80psi so your pressure readings are normal.

^yup... if you're used to seeing higher than 80psi, you might have had a bad filter.
Was the filter changed out too when you had the oil change?
Mine is usually in the 70s during acceleration.

BTW... I see you created another thread with the same question.
Don't clutter the website with duplicate threads... its annoying.

actually , it was the same filter...i had royal purple oil filter....
so this is what happened ....i had that filter for 3K miles.....when i changed my oil , i took it out....THEN , i realize i bought a wrong new filter , THEREFORE , i re-used the same filter....

when i first installed , my gauge ,if i go about 8K rpm , the oil pressure hits like 120-125....

now ,AFTER the oil change .... no matter how high my rpm , it peaks at 80 ...

i was worried coz it didnt went up . i thought there was a hole , or a leak , or clog....SO 80 psi ..is normal ? and 130 is not right ?

Do you know what oil viscosity you were using when you had oil pressure between 120-125?
High viscosity oils will increase the oil pressure.
But generally bad/dirty filter, high viscosity oil used, or blockage will cause the pressure to be high.
So yes... not going over 80psi is where you want to be.

that was what confused me......the filter was new when i hit 130 psi and a 80psi AFTER i took out and change ....thats why i thought it clogged the filter and caused it to be low...I had no idea it was the other way around

BTW ,
oil before i had my oil change was Royal Purple 5w20 (i had forgotten if it was synthetic or not) = 120-130 psi

Oil used to change was Moblie1 5w20 Synthetic =80 psi
does that had anything to do with the extremely high pressure ?

PS : sorry for the other thread coz i didnt know which area it was ...so i tried both Tech Garage and Trouble Shooting

5w20 wouldn't be considered a high viscosity to where it would increase the oil pressure like that.
I run RP 5w30 and like I said, my pressure never goes over 80psi.

No problem... creating multiple threads just makes it difficult to gather information from two different threads and also difficult for anyone searching this topic.
People seem to think that some of us only "watch" certain sections, but the "common" guys here see ever post via iSpy so we'll see your post no matter where it is.
Feel free to delete the other thread.
