Lowering Seat

Lowering Seat
Yes I have searched.
I am trying to figure out if I can lower my seat without going to an after market seat. I am looking for about 1 ¾ inch.
I have tried cutting the foam of the bottom but this is not sufficient (once you cut an inch or more it becomes really uncomfortable and cutting less will do nothing for helmet room).
Has anyone tried modifying an aftermarket seat rail or making a custom seat rail?
Are there any after market seat rails that will fit our stock seat?

I have called those guys to inquire about their products but they didn’t respond yet.
Thanks for the help.

He's as bad as Can
No aftermarket seat rails exist that would connect to the OEM seats. In fact the mounting points of the OEM seats are about as low has they can be. I have dealt with this issue myself and the only way I increased the headroom ( lowered seat) was with a Kirkey race seat and aftermarket bracket. If you did use search you had to have found my many Kirkey seat threads.

I found your threads/posts, that’s how I got the link above. I guess my only choice is an after market seat.
Now I have to decide between a full bucket or a reclining street seat that would be good for both daily driving and the track.
Going to play the lottery and then buy me a pair of Bride Gias with the Low max rails.
Thanks for the response expo1.

I'm contemplating the same thing.
But after sitting in the Lotus Elise I think I just may stop modding for now...
I like being differant and that car definately would make me unique on the road.
What can I say 2 miles from the Ferrari dealer and 1/2 mile from the Lotus dealer.
Sometimes it just so hard to choose. Damn it I have to pass the 500HP Mustang at Ford on the way too!

I am thinking the Elise as the next 2cnd car, as well, hopefully they will switch to a Honda engine by then (wishful thinking).
As for now, I have put some of the padding back today. I am going to check out the option of going to an after market steering wheel with some kind of an extender, if that doesn't work out, will probably have to buy some seats.
