Lub Oil Additives

Lub Oil Additives
Can I use additives for my 8? Not sure if it works as well as in a normal injection engine. I had previously own a honda prelude and I use the additives X1R in it. I was running around non stop for a week and it was till I reach home that I realise that all the oil had leak away due to a damage oil sump nut. (i probably hit a rock) I was very surprise that my engine did not over heat and no parts were damage when it was running without oil. Any idea whether it will work on an 8?

just cause the car was still running doesnt mean there wasnt MAJOR wear done to the engine....sounds like one of those TV adds for Slick50 where they run the enginer with no air filter, no oil and no coolant, and it supposedly runs better than new.
Im not saying these addatives dont work, they might, but If you run a good quality oil/filter, change it regularly and keep it toped off....there is no need for added cost/time of putting in these special addatives.
The major problem with running them in a rotary is you dont know what will happen when this product (X1R or any others) is burned, will it burn clean? what chemicals will be left after it burns, will it damage/gum up the catalytic converter or o2 sensors? will it damage the apex seals? You just dont know.
My advice, run a good oil and filter, change it ever 3k miles OR 3 times a year, run good fuel and keep the oil lvl toped off.
Also, didn you get any warning lights or anything when your car ran out of oil?
Maby its a honda thing, my girlfriends rsxS ran down to about 2qts of oil after a long track day, and it didnt have any warning lihgts come on or anything. Kinda scary. It burnt through about 4.5 qts of oil in about 2k miles of track/city driving. Thats seems to be a fluke though cause since then, it only burns about 1 qt for ever 3k miles bettween changes, and its running on mobil1 now.

Automotive engine oils are a result of a century of research and development in a highly competitive industry, and continuous improvements are made and incorporated to standards set by the API. As a result it is now expected that a car will go over 100,000 miles, and many easily double that or more. Contrast this to one or two generations previous, when 100,000 mile mark was impressive. Todays oils are very good.
You oil already comes with a well thought-out additive package which allow it to meet the API standard. Adding more stuff may or may not keep it that way. There is little or nothing to be gained, and a lot to be lost.
