MAF based meth/water injection for n/a

Anyone have experience/opinions on the Snow Performance kit for normal aspirated engines?

http://www.snowperformance.net/product.php?pk=9

Seems to me one could use this to surpress detonation and cool EGT's vs. running pig rich. Basing the injection on MAF makes some sense, but I'm not sure it would cover all detonation conditions such as WOT in a high gear from low rpm.

Comments?

Was a lot of talk about it a few yrs back but never heard of anyone actually trying it . Benefits were not thought to make it worthwhile .

Give it a crack - then sell me the used kit when you are finished with it

LOL, deal!

I'm sure it doesn't make sense in terms of power, but it may in terms of mpg, especially when we get back up to >$4/gal.

i believe Ash 8 was going to try one?
It would not be a increase performance mod but more of a longetivity mod. Sure cleans the engine. Spark plugs sure look better!
MAF triggered system works well--been running one for a while.

Interesting ... what's your consumption? I'd also work on the leaning the fuel maps and use the water/meth to compensate. This really should be a 25 mpg car, especially when I read in this book:

http://www.amazon.com/RX-8-Worlds-Co...4107015&sr=1-1

that projected USA EPA highway was 30 mpg.

My only concern with a widely used W\M injection system is how steam mixes with oil. Having this as a charge cooler for extreme conditions is fine, using one constantly could cause lubrication problems in the long run.
However i have no proof of that but it should make sense since oil is not water soluble.

Oh I wouldn't plan for it to be on constantly, just for various accelerating conditions where the Mazda Plan is to pour gas through the motor to avoid detonation and to keep the EGTs down for cat life. Seems better to waste water instead.

What I'm concerned about are conditions where MAF is low and manifold pressure is high, like WOT in 3rd gear at 30 mph. To cover that, perhaps one would need to overlay another set of parameters in addition to MAF which trigger the water spray.

As far as the water/oil issue, as long as the injection rate is reasonable (the suggested max rate is 100cc/minute for this power range with a 50/50 mix), it shouldn't be a whole lot worse than the water being produced through the normal combustion process.
