Keep in mind that LPG will give you around 25% less miles per gallon.

Less Power also unless you turbo. Factor in the cost of conversion you spend more money in the end but it has been done.

In 2004 I was in contact with a company based in the Netherlands who developped a multi-point vapour phase injection (VPI) system for most gasoline (petrol) applications. The system is based on a piggy-back computer that modifies the original injection signals to adapt them to the LPG conversion. The power and consumption losses were acceptable (tested on a race Civic-R engine).
Unfortunately, last time I spoke to them (in 2004), they realised that their VPI system could not cope with the complex synchronisation signal coming from the crank (e-shaft in fact) trigger wheel. Maybe they have, or will implement the new trigger pattern as it seems to be used on more Mazdas now (the new 2.0 l MX5 uses the same trigger wheel).
Also very inetresting is the Liquid Phase Injection (LPI) from Vialle (still in the Netherlands). The fact they inject LPG in liquid phase compensate for the usual LPG power loss thanks to the huge cooling effect of vaporisation of this gas. I'm not sure their management system can deal with the Mazda RX8 trigger wheel though.

A way around all that would be the use of a second trigger wheel + sensor on the front of the e-shaft pulley.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm noit aware of any LPG-fuelled RX8 so far, despite regularly visiting the Dutch and other European forums (French, UK, German, ...).
