Mazda Zoom Zoom Cleaner .. Need Help

I did the cleaner a few weeks back, but no white smoke cam out.

I followed the DIY guide here

I was just reading on the directions on the actual can of cleaner, it says that Im supposed to spray the whole can, while the engine is running, through the throttle chamber.

Any idea?

Yeah, it got stuck right before your catalytic converter. Most likely like mine, your cat is dead.

Wait a week or two and you will notice your exhaust sounds funny. Kind of like a hollow sound.

Also if someone sits in the car and revs it up you will see a little smoke come out, mines been releasing a bit for the past 5,000 miles or so. The smoke smells like the Mazda zoom zoom cleaner.

I've yet to pull my catalytic converter off to make double sure(I don't trust the dealer) because its night time when I get off work and my weekends are completely taken.

If someone else does this I'd recommend pulling the catalytic prior to it or kiss it good bye.

Yes, that's why I do not recomend this procedure regardless of what MM or others say.

I would pull the Cat prior to doing this.

I used SeaFoam so maybe there's a difference but I thought they were pretty much the same thing. And I gotta say I don't see how anyone could NOT get smoke. Geeze, I fogged the whole neighborhood! Clogged CAT notwithstanding, as long as there is enough flow for the engine to run, how is that smoke not escaping? The only thing I can think of is that the air pump was not disconnected as part of the procedure, and all that "fuel" flashed in the converter? That might explain the finding of "dead cat" afterwards.

I followed nycgps instructions completely. I pulled off all the right wires and everything.

I remember TeamRX8 made the wise suggestion to pull the cat off when doing this or it would die. I think his was off when he did it and goop came out the exhaust. At least if I remember right, I'm too lazy to search right now to make sure.

Edit: I'd recommend doing this still if you baby your car around town. Just pull the catalytic converter off right before. I think if you drive the hell out of your car(after its warmed up of course) you probably will never have to do this.

Understood. Then I reckon the smoke must happen when the cleaner gets heated by the converter. Which would lead me to believe that lack of smoke would mean the converter was already bad.

Just flood ur car 10 times to kill the cat completely.

lol

then u do the zoom zoom cleaning.

then you bring the car back to Mazda saying "oh, my cat is dead, cuz my car was flooded!~"
