melting cats

are there any highflow cats that wont melt with the RB race flash. this is the only thing holding me back from getting the race flash. I dont want a midpipe cause of the CEL and smell of gas.

That's the first time that I ever heard of a cat melting due to the RB Flash. I know the RP Cat is really nice and doesn't retain as much heat unlike the OEM one.

Unless you can find (I haven't been able to) a cat that likes, no make that thrives on 2k+ degree exhaust, it's going to destroy whatever you put in there either immediately or soon thereafter.

screw it then i will just go with the midpipe with the resonator and deal with the CEL for a little while, until the code gets stored and the light goes out.

I am on the standard Mazda flash and have had to replace 4 cats (running on #5 at the moment) in 37K miles. The last one was replaced at 32K miles. There is no guarantee that any will last.
Like chetrickerman said, just get a midpipe w/resonator.

[Helpful Tip Time]

If you have to drive with your windows down or AC with outside air...Here are a few helpful hints...

As long as your moving forward the stink can't catch you.

Keep the blower at 0 so its not sucking air when stopped...but should flow when moving at speed...

Slow down prematurely so the velocity of the stink does not catch you when you stop.

EX:
Don't (70-fast->0)
Do (70-fast->30-slow->0)
Reduces the stink flying forward when you stop.
