midpipe sound.

so i bought the midpipe with the resonator from rx7store, and i installed it today. It went about as smooth as it could. (2 trips to ace for stainless nuts and bolts) i got both the gaskets on there, and checked it 3 times for leaks, and no leaks what so ever. but i went out to take it for a spin and she how she sounds, and i was disappointed. it sounds really ricey. BUT i remember someone on here saying that the resonator has to get broken in and then it will sound nice and deep. (thats how glasspacks are) i just want to make sure this is true. is it?

It will calm down a little after some days, but don't expect a huge difference.

hmm, hopefully the ricey sound will go away, cause i have no idea what could be causing it.

i would try to get a video of it, but my video format doesnt work on here. im just wondering if the resonator is the same thing as a glasspack as it has to have time to break in and get a deeper sound

i ran just a midpipe with stock exhaust for a few weeks while waiting for my corksport to come in. i hate the way it sounds. sounded exactly like you say. sounded ricey/raspy anytime you were on the throttle. i thought it was me being paranoid but i had a few friends listen while i drove by, and they confirmed that it did int fact sound like ****.

now order an exhaust i m very pleased with my corksport

damn it. why did everyone say it was gonna be nice and deep?

on a postitive note, the 8 has a little more "umf"

i will probably go with something like the mazdaspeed one. that sounds nice on the stock cat, so i will see how it is with a midpipe

the rx7store resonator is very small.. you might as well got a straight pipe..

and i can tell you if you find the stock exhaust with what you have loud or off pitch. you will be hating life with the corksport...

i had one.. great exhaust.. great sound, but a bit to loud.. that was with a hi flow cat and a resonator..

beers

and its a different maker. swoope said that the resonator is really small in the rx7store midpipe, and it does look that way
