Unhappy Minor noise when idling

Hey guys... I am a new user to these forums. I have found a lot of the information very useful so I am glad to have joined the community.

I have a very minor noise that happens when the car is idling. If I press down on the clutch ever so slightly the noise will go away. I am not a mechanic by any means, but it leads me to believe something with the clutch causing the noise.

The clutch isn't bad and it drives great... this is the only problem that I have noticed since buying it at 58k miles.

Thanks in advance!

yep gear roll over noise.
TRANMISSION GEAR ROLL-OVER NOISE
Applicable Models
Model Starting S/N Ending S/N
2004 RX8 00000000 ZZZZZZZZ

Some customers may complain of a whirring noise from the transmission while at idle N in neutral. The noise may also be described as a light rattling when the AC compressor cycles on. This noise is normal N no repairs should be made. Confirm the gear rollover noise by depressing the clutch pedal, the noise should be eliminated. Compare noise to another vehicle to verify this is a normal characteristic. 1. No repairs should be attempted on vehicles with gear rollover noise.

several reasons why you can hear it

1. Aisin's are a little louder than other manual trannies but you can hear it from other trannies.
2. You are sitting much closer to the tranny than you would be in most cars
3. The idle rotary is really quiet

good read
