MOD suggestion: Auto close moonroof w/ windows.
I often find myself using one hand to close the moonroof while im using the other to close up both windows and recently realized it might be neat to have the car close the moonroof when both windows are being rolled up at the same time.
Basically, the only time you're rolling BOTH windows up is a time you're probably wanting to close the moonroof as well. Poddibly, even have it so that the two windows roll up and then if you continue to hold on the window switches, the moonroof closes as well. I've looked over the tech manual and it doesnt seem to have enough information about the wiring for the moonroof.
Was wondering if anyone would be interested in a mod like this?

you could rewire a moonroof switch next to your window switched so u could do them all at once? maybe wire it into a passenger side window swith that u mount on the driver side.. so it LOOKS stock at least?

I had something like this hooked up with my old Civic SiR.
With the help of a good installer, when he put in the alarm, he wired in a couple of relays that would close the windows and the sunroof when I armed the alarm.
I loved it, and it was a great party trick.

Cool idea but I wonder how this would work in the reverse.
If both windows are rolled DOWN would the sunroof open?
Seems like there would be a lot of variations one would neeed to take into account before re-wiring.

At one point manufacturers offered auto close on windows, that is until all of the smashed finger complaints came in.
It's probably a good idea to know where everyone's fingers are and manually shut a door window or sunroof - especially if kids ride in your 8 - IMHO.

I have all my windows including the sunroof close when I lock the car from the remote. (On the side note, this also allows me to open or vent the windows and sunroof from the remote)

Since I'm back...for the moment...I'll write a very brief explanation of a simple close sunroof on fob lock....(you will likely want to look at page 118 of the electrical manual for this to make sense)
you need:
2 relays
1 delay timer (you can usually grab one from a local audio shop)
Grab a signal wire from the fob lock trigger...anywhere...look in the eletrical manual
Grab the positive power line into the sunroof motor (plug M-03, pin I)
take this always on power into relay 1 and the timer
take the lock trigger into the timer as the trigger
from the timer, send your output to relay 1's trigger
run a negative line into relay 2 (pull it from plug M-03, pin H)
from relay 2 run the output to plug M-03, pin A
from relay 1, run the output to the trigger of relay 2, AND power to the sunroof swich (which should be plug M-01, pin 2)
as I said...its a very brief explaination....

devoid- I think I speak for the entire RX8club community when I say PLEASE PLEASEE do a DIY on this. I think this is a feature almost everybody on this forum would want to wire, but nobody wants to screw up by venturing out on their own.
We would be eternally grateful.

I hate to say...but it's going to be a long time before I take apart my roof. Truly though, if you follow my written instruction, if will work. Now, if someone else in my area wants to do this, I'd be more than happy to help, and we can make a DIY at that time.

Devoid where are you in Ohio? I would be willing to use my car to do a DIY for the windows and the sunroof. I will be back in Dayton on after the weekend of the 18th. Let me know.
