MT Clutch Stiffness Question

MT Clutch Stiffness Question
Just a quick question.
I've searched through all clutch threads on the forum but didn't see anything that exactly addressed it.
I had my clutch replaced last week because a bearing was squeaking and going out. The shop that I use replaced it with a NAPA clutch kit, which I don't really care about except that before the replacement, the clutch pedal was pretty stiff to push down. Of course, I'd gotten used to it this way - and now the clutch has practically no resistance at all.
So, I'm guessing either:
1.) The clutch wasn't supposed to be that stiff in the first place, and this is now normal;
2.) The new clutch is just different and the lack of resistance is normal for this clutch (in this case, would an OEM clutch make a difference?);
3.) The shop screwed something up if the clutch is supposed to be stiff like it was/the clutch is defective, or they can potentially adjust something to affect the resistance.
I've also apparently got a master cylinder leak (you can see fluid leaking up behind the pedal inside the car), so today they're going to replace that too. Does that have any potential to affect the stiffness of the clutch? It's just like driving an entirely different car now, and it's driving me a little nuts.
Thanks!

After replacing the master/slave cylinders (I had them do both while they were at it), the clutch feels back to normal. Before replacement there was only maybe an inch from the floor where the clutch engaged, and the pedal was soft all the way to the floor. Now it's much more stiff, and the clutch engages a little more than halfway down like it did before.
It could have been the leak, or maybe it didn't get completely bled the first time (they tried it a few times to make sure), but it did seem to fix the problem replacing the cylinders.
