How do you you know you won't get hit by a bus tomorrow.....Enjoy what you got why you can or live in a bubble. Get the car back and sell it or stop worrying and enjoy it. I would hope it will be good for another 70-80,000 miles on that new engine atleast.

Glad to read you're going to be okay, Mike! Are you getting a brand spanking new Renesis? If so, don't forget to go by RacingBeat's website and break it in properly. Maybe this new one'll last longer than the first? It's good to know Mazda's standing by you.

Mike,
Glad to hear things went your way. Mine's in the shop right now 04 Manual (driving a Fusion).
Although this link is for the third gen it's more info to add to Racing Beats break in:
http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/3r...p_breakin.html
What is weird to me is people using the word "abuse". What is that? I can imagine that to be letting the fluids run low, using it to tow something beyond it's capacity, not performing scheduled maintenance, not performing recalls, setting it on fire and some other neglectful ideas. But I think some are considering the redline abuse. If the Renesis weren't designed to operate at it's allowed redline why would they permit it to? The manual does state not to downshift into first above a certain mph. Not following that guideline would equal abuse. But the other parameters have been laid out very clearly in the manual.
My two cents.

It took my local Mazda Stealership a week and a half to change my engine! They told me that they only had one rotary tech and he was "really busy".
Needless to say I don't care for that dealership very much.

I don't believe your dealership was lying to you. They make one rotary engine car and they have to pay for techs to go to training. Doesn't make sense to have more than one or two "rotary guys" at the most. The specialist guys are usually the best techs too. These are the guys who get the hard to fix stuff. Don't be too quick to jump on the "stealership" band wagon.

Mike, I saw your car at Tustin on the lift with the motor out and on the ground. It was sad to see a dead Renesis.
One of my friends works at Tustin as a tech--he is VERY knowledgeable and I only trust him to work on my 8.
