My old fuel pump doesn't look like the newer one!
I've had the fuel starvation issue on track, and I have been trying to replace my existing pump ('04 MT, USA model).
BUT
I got my old pump out, and it doesn't look like the one shown in MazdaManiac's thread:
http://www.mazdamaniac.com/images/rx...ssemble_01.jpg
Instead, it has a smooth top, with no connector for the fuel line. There is no "hump" on top, either - the only thing sticking up is the power connector.
So maybe Mazda made a mid-series change? I don't see any way to swap the two pumps.
First pic is of smooth top of fuel pump cover (half-clean) - power socket showing, but nothing else, no way to attach fuel hose.
Second pic is what I see when I start to pull the pump out of the tank. Compare with pic 5 (or MazdaManiac pic above) - no lower bowl, completely different.
Third picture shows actual pump unit (I think) sitting in bottom of tank, wedged into (?) some type of retaining fitting.
Fourth and fifth pic show top of replacement unit and entire replacement unit.
I'm hesitant to take out the old So I have no idea how to re-route the fuel line so that it comes in from the top.
Any ideas? I've emailed the guys at BHR, and they've been very responsive so far, but today is Sunday ...

Hey, I'll take my lumps. You can see that I'm only a part-time gearhead.
Anyhow, the rest of the install went JUST FINE, thank you very much.
Took lots of pics, look for thorough DIY (authored by a rotard, so take with a graai of salt) hopefully this evening.
Thanks for the speedy replies, though!
