Nav in a non Nav car?

Yes, I know... SEARCH!

Now that I already gave that answer, I need some input.

First, is it feasible to swap the entire factory nav system into a non nav car? I can't seem to find an exact answer. What would be involved?

If it's even possible, how much should I expect to pay for the entire system?

You fail at searching Noob

But why bother, the OEM NAV is pretty lame in comparison to even my magellan.

I want it integrated and as stock as possible and I do not want to replace the head unit.

What if I were to get just the dash panel that houses the screen and fit a 7" GPS like the Magellan 1700? Something that can be hardwired? Will the panel still open and close?

Well I hope you like spending a **** load of money to get something out dated and lame then. This is a huge undertaking for little to no real benefit. You could get a double din setup with bluetooth, nav, ipod, voice control, DVD playback, etc. for far less. Or you could go with a car PC setup with a lot more. Not to mention I don't believe there is a real updated nav DVD from Mazda so if you live in a high growth area you will be missing a ton of roads.

*sigh* I guess I'll take a look at the nav screen housing and see what I can do with it.

Some people here have done some really great setups that look completely OEM.

Thank you for the images. If I were to get the stock nav dash part, would I be able to use the included 7" lcd or would it be better to fit a different one in the part? Would the open and tilt buttons still work?
