NC swap pieces
This is just idle wonderings, but I'm curious whether some of the better pieces of the NC could be swapped to the RX-8. Mainly I'm interested in the steering rack and the master cylinder. The NC has much quicker steering than the RX-8, which is plagued with steering that isn't quite as quick as it can be. The NC ratio feels about right to my hands with much less lock to lock movement. Unfortunately from part diagram illustrations it doesn't look like a swap is easy.
Also, the NC brake master cylinder seems to have been designed for a much stiffer brake pedal. While the RX-8 has great braking performance, the pedal stiffness leaves much to be desired, a problem that is only partially cured with the Mazdaspeed strut tower brace. If the RX-8 brake pedal can be further stiffened by swapping in a NC master cylinder, it would further improve the tactile feedback of the car.

the steering rack may need to be initialized, and unless if the mount points are the same...or essentially the same parts with altered internal gear profile.
there are other ways to mod your stock components... doing some of your own work may be required...
or a shorter answer would to be:
get a small o.d. steering wheel&hub and call it a day.
(and yes, i've also wondered upon this issue. and a hub would be my solution as i have a wheel sitting around)

[QUOTE=LionZoo;2815474] The NC ratio feels about right to my hands with much less lock to lock movement. Unfortunately from part diagram illustrations it doesn't look like a swap is easy.

-the lock to lock is 2.7 turns for NC and 3.0 for ours. start from there if you're serious... or go with what i suggested for a cost effective standpoint. (airbags??? who needs 'em!)
-with 11.4 and 11.0 rotors on the NC, even those numbers don't add.
i wouldn't bet on that the master cylinder piston A & B diameters aren't well matched to the (ours) caliper diameter... the ratio would be off somewhere, and more than likely you'll be pushing the pedal to the floor before moving the giant calipers on our 12.7 and 11.9 rotors if using the miata's master.
why are you downsizing???
