In need of DIY instructions!

Could I please get a DIY for the rear O2 sensor. Check engine light came on not long ago, reading came back P0037. I ordered the O2 sensor and bought the socket tool I'll need, I'm just not confident in installing things myself. I'd greatly appreciate DIY instructions for dummies so I can't screw it up.

Thanks Kyle

P.S its an 04 RX8 manual

Use some wd40 as a precaution.
Unplug the sensor, loosen it with the tool and replace.
That's all you need to do\know

Now now, just being safe.

I'm just tryig to be sure and getting any hints befoe hand. The guy at NAPA autoparts who sold me the sensor socket mentioned that the car would have to have been sitting for several hours or else the socket would be hot and expanded. Just hoping for some more helpful **** like that.

to be honest you will want it to be cool because the cat will be too hot to touch anyways.

Jack it up. Put it on stands (only bother with the right side).
Remove the sensor shield.
Unplug the sensor.
Soak the threads with PB Blast.
Take a nap.
Remove the sensor.

That said, it is unlikely that replacing the sensor will fix the code.
Those sensors take forever to go bad and they do so very, very slowly.

That DTC is an open harness somewhere.
Unless the harness at the sensor is compromised, the failure is elsewhere.

My read O2 sensor heater circuit failed
It unscrewed easily with a standard wrench
The cover bolts were a bit rusty but came off.
What's with the "special tool"?

Special tool is an O2 Sensor socket. basically a correctly sized socket with a small opening on one side to allow forthe wires on the sensor.

its an exhaust component, so the odds of it coming off easy is slim to none, whether its hot cold or otherwise

Wow really, Dude If you cant figure out how to switch out something as simple as an O2 sensor you should seriously consider not having an Rx8. 95% of people on this forum could do it with their eyes closed.

Just get under the car and open your eyes, it really isnt that hard....
