Need Fuel Pump Help
#2
There is a threaded ring around the outside of the pump, you must remove that first, it spins counter clock wise. Problem with that is, it can be a bitch and most the time will break in the process. When I worked on mine I went to the dealership and bought a new ring before I even started the work just in case. Once the ring is off the pump comes right out.

Big flat screwdriver and mallet, tap the lugs counterclockwise, gently.
There are some little 'ears' that prevent the ring turning, make sure they are pulled away from the edges.
The tabs are a lot stronger than they look, but the dealer wants $70+ for a new ring.....

Stealth is right on, we use a flat tip screwdriver and mallet to remove our on the race cars. Make sure once you remove it though, you check to make sure the o-ring that sits under it is free of cuts so you get a good seal once you re-install it.
