Need help...intake hose problem
I just bought my RX8 a couple weeks ago and was out checking the oil and cleaning out the filter and noticed that the hose that goes to the top of the intake is being held on with electrical tape. The plastic fitting that holds the hose to the intake was broken and now it's not even attached since I messed with it. Where does this go and will it hurt anything if I have to wait for the part? And what's it called?
Posted a pic..not my engine but i just wanted to show the part
Also I checked the oil and it's a yellowish brown color and is bubbly. I can't even tell how much oil is in it for sure because it's all over the dipstick. Any ideas?

U might be able to glue the plastic peace back on. And as for the stuff on the dipstick, my car did that once along time ago I think it's from water or something like that.

The vacuum hose fittings break in the cold easily if messed with, and this is probably what happened with the prior owner. Grab a couple from the local dealer. I haven't found any universal ones that fit. You can get away with a bit of driving without it attached, but get it taken care of asap.
Since you don't know what the dip stick residue is, you haven't read this thread designed for new owners: https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-forum-197/new-potential-owners-start-here-202454/
Read it for that piece of information, as well as many other things that you can benefit from.
