Need keys cut and don't want to use the dealer...
I just had all my keys stolen and now need to get new ones. The local Mazda dealer wants roughly $600 to get 2 new keys. I just bought an uncut key on Ebay, is there anyone who can cut and program it besides the dealer. I live in Polk County Florida, by the way. Thanks.

Yaaa sux. ive been using my valet key since i got the car. I have a switchblade one but the dealer here said it would be $50 to cut and $50 to program. Which isnt real bad.. They said that they can give me the specs for the key and take it to a key shop to get it cut but id still need to get them to program it since i dont have 2 keys.. If you find a better way let me know

if you have one key, its not hard to program a second key to your car. you just have to go through an elaborate process of opening and closing doors, hoods, trunks, etc.
however if you have no keys... well thats a problem.

This is for your protection, as the usefulness of the security chip would be compromised if you could get this done just anywhere. Mazda was slapped down a few years back for lax security (re: social engineering) regarding provision of replacement keys, iirc. So I'd expect that they are tight with this nowadays. Sucks in your situation but makes RX-8 overall more difficult to jack.

I bought two new keys and had them cut and now want to program them, how do I do this with only one original key and a service key?
I don't mean to high jack the thread but I am in the same dilemma.....
I searched freakin high and low on here and the other threads say you need two orginal keys to program. So if you could explain how I could do this with only one key that would be great, or provide a link or something.....
Thanks a million....

How do you do this? I have one full key and one half key(missing upper half with blade) that can unlock the car, pop trunk, etc. Dealer wanted $40 for the upper portion but $150 to program. I thought I was screwed until your post as every other one I have seen says you need two "full" keys to program another one.

All in there, it works.
You need two keys to add more.
If your keys were stolen, it probably a good idea to pay the dealer as the dealer can remove all the other keys. While they keys would still unlock the car and trunk, it wouldn't start the engine.

ok i got an issue, im in the military was on active duty down in georgia got deactivated but am going back to georgia in 2 months so i left it with someone there. I have only one key and have it with me here in washington. I would just mail it but fear it getting lost, is it possible to get a duplicate made, with the car not being with me?
