New Cat, Same Problems. HELP!

mazda dealership just put a new cat convert in my at 8. i pick up car and drive for an hour or two. the car warms up and the same symptoms occur as before and stronger!

loss of power.

the car turned off twice at stop lights.

no power in 1st or 2nd.

from 3rpms to 5rpms loud engine pinging like someone put a baseball card in a bike spoke.

violent engine rumble and shake at idle.

these symptoms come and go. sometimes the car drives fine and then it just hits.

what should i do? please help!

It's kinda hard to diagnose a problem over the internet that even the dealer hasn't been able to solve. It could be anything from a vacume leak to a intermittantly bad sensor.

he thought it was a clogged cat but it obviously isnt that hehe.

once the car cools down it runs fine but once it warms up it does it.

Could be a faulty ignition coil playing up , when the car is warmed up .

u could either have bad ignition coils like grizzly 8 said, or have the mazda dealership check ur timing, it might be off, that could explain the power loss, the bad idle, or violent as u put it..............

Engines may be in store for a few of us early owners as far as the rumors are saying! I'm really not excited about this since I have plans for this summer and upgrades! Swoope what's the word?

im going to take my car to the dealership this monday after driving it for an hour so it will show symptoms. so far from reading on the messege boards im going to tell the tech the following might be wrong with the car:

• Faulty ignition coils
• Vehicle timing
• Compression check
• Starter motor

anything else i should add? from what most people say it looks like i need a new engine because my car is doing the exact same thing as theirs.
