Took the car in on Monday to have the CD changer and spoiler installed. The Service Adjuster did not know we were coming in. He was shocked to see us. The Service Manager who knew we were coming in came out and we told them both we had an idiot light come on. The Adjuster was floored. :p
We had a good laugh.
The tech that did the work on the engine came up to us and introduced himself to my wife. That goes a long ways in my book.

Brad...you may have explained this already but, How is the new engine? Did the install go no problem? Did you say you had a CEL with the new motor also.
Its a miracle if the dealership didnt scratch anything pulling out your motor and replacing it.

They did an excellent job. Can't tell they did an engine swap. I sort of hoped if there were going to be problems, they would conveintly scratch something and I could hold it up on that.
As for the replacement engine, everything works like you would expect. The only light that came on was the tire pressure light when one tire was 4 pounds low.
I'm even getting the low mileage others are reporting (last tank was 13.7 MPG). So it must be doing the right things :D Since this engine is new, I figure this will improve. Or, maybe we need to drive it more to get it past the 768 mile mark (600 miles on the new engine).

There was a BIG sig alert on the 10 this morning. They shut it down right at the 15 (where I go). Took side streets for a while..
I heard Bush is traveling today and they will shut down the freeways? Hear about that? Or am I getting mis-information?
Is your 80/day a round trip? I do about 85 if I don't go out for lunch. Mine is all freeway (10/15/60) except for 7 miles on city streets.

"...I'm a Dapper Dan man"
I feel for you. I owned a 2002 VW Passat W8 that was repurchased under the Virginia Lemon Law. It was in the shop for it's second coil pack replacement.
After waiting a week with no word from the dealer I called them and they informed me that after the CP replacement they reran the VAGCOM on the ECU for any more codes for the engine and found that the two cam adjusters on the drivers side cylinder bank need replacing necessitating the removal of the engine.
I never saw or drove the car again.
I had filed a second complaint with the BBB (2nd arbitration) and the car was already over the 30 days out of service rule in accordance with the VA lemon law. The car then sat in the service lot...untouched for another 30 days because the car was waiting for parts. I signed over the keys and got my check (for the repurchase) while the car was still sitting on the dealers service lot. It turned out that the car sat there untouched for the month of June '03 because none of the techs at the dealership wanted to attemp the repair and risk screwing it up. None were trained nor certified to workon the W8. I know it was untouched as the dirt and twigs were building up around the tires.
It was bad enought paying for a $40,000 VW but not a Yugo that was desguised as a VW! 15 times in the shop, 32 job orders and out of service 60 days in 13 months! How do you spell lemon?
