Angry New engine after only 1170 miles!

OK, i'm really pissed right now, i've had my new RX8 for just about 2 months, 1170 miles on it (after trading my 05 ). After the first couple of weeks the engine started making some weird vibrations at around 50 mph at 5-6th gear at low rpm's, so i took it to the dealership and they said it was the wheels, the problems persisted so after doing some research i found out about a service bulletin that was out about htis matter, i went back to the dealership and again they said it was the wheels, so i took the mechanic for a spin and sure enough i was able to re-create the issue. After they took about 2 hrs trying to figure out was was wrong with it they finally told me that they called mazda and they were told that it is a known issue and that the only solution is a new engine!....needless to say i was so pissed i could not even talk!... it's brand new car for crying out loud!. So tomorrow im supposed to get a call letting me know when my new engine will be here. I'm so close to reporting it as a lemon and see if a get another new 8 instead.

you had an 05 RX8 and you traded it in for a new one? Was there something wrong with the first?

New engine

Good luck with the new engine. Hopefully the turnaround time will be quick so you can put all of this behind you and look forward to enjoying the car as it was meant to be enjoyed. Keep us posted. We are all "brothers & sisters" here.

forget asking for a new car, you'll never get it.

if I was a photoshop artist, you would not see these words, but rather, a photo of dave chappelle with the caption.."Damn, Mazda is F*cking UP!"

what is this "known issue" on 2007 cars that makes the car "shudder" in high gear that requires a new engine?

That's B.S.

The only current "known" issue that could POSSIBLY result in a new engine is in regards to Recall 4206F and that has nothing to do with engine shudder.

The engine shudder is for a possible broken Right Motor Mount

trust me, this dealership is on my last nerve, i never got a call from them, so i took the initiative to call them and damm almost got the phone hang up on me. the guy told me they had no news from mazda for me just yet. So with that said i'll call them everyday until i they get my name engraved in their useless brains.

that might not be the best approach to take with them...

Do you have any other dealerships near you?
Did they do a compression test? Have they inspected the cat? Heck, has the recall even been performed on this vehicle?

Sounds like a good idea. You should also start documenting EVERYTHING. Don't tell the dealership you are thinking of pursuing the lemon law, just quietly log all the days your car is out of service, their explanations and actions, etc. Read up on your state's lemon law, what will qualify you is very specific so keep your mouth shut and just build your case. If they know you're considering lemoning the car they may try to give it back to you ASAP, give you the run around, and do everything to keep it from lemon status.

Also, don't get down on your new car already. Make sure you work with them and give them the chance to make it right. I'm just saying prepare your case if the problems don't clear up. If they don't, it's a lemon, if they do, then good on them.

I would say DON'T contact MNAO until you hear from your dealership unless it becomes an excessive amount of time. Just like at work you are only going to **** them off going over their heads before they get the chance to try to make it right.

If they take an excessive amount of time to get back to you, or don't make it right THEN go to Corporate.

I concur. This should be as a 'last resort' since there's little places to go once you play the MNAO card. Try working this out with your dealership / Service Manager or even seek out another dealership

How long have you been waiting? Have you tried going higher up at the dealership? I.E. the owner. Usually, that will work.

Keeping records and docs, even noting the date and times you called is always a good thing.
